(Sun)day in Lier

“We are going to Lier (small charming village somewhere) … if you and Marta want to join?”

That’s how our Sunday begins. To have a Sunday walk somewhere in Belgium is not that difficult. Just open the map, choose a random place (or better ask your local friends), buy a weekend ticket and here we are. Somewhere in Belgium. Most of the time it’s even cheaper that to go to a cinema.

In Bulgaria I used to go to the cinema with my aunt and then to have a hot chocolate or latte in Costa. Тhis was one of my favorite things back home. With her. Now it’s different. She is not here anymore and I am not in Bulgaria. I had to think of another tradition. Another Sunday tradition. What better tradition than such of traveling and discovering the places you never been before and the people you never met before.

After our EVS mid-term training in Dilbeek (another fairytale, which I tell you later) me and Marta decided that we will not spend our Sundays at home, doing nothing and just sleeping. We did this few times and it’s okey, but when you know you have a limited time here, you don’t want to waste your time.

And here we are! In Lier.

Lier was nice. Three spanish-speaking friends and me with my “vamos vamos mi amor” to search for the perfect coffee place with a cozy atmosphere. In the end we couldn’t find it, because the place was full. We had our croissants on the street, without a proper coffee… and still Liar is a small charming village as someone tells before. There are a square, few churches, and the typical belgium style buildings. Nothing spectacular, but still romantic and somehow stylish. Stylish because of the perfect couple that we saw. Because of the Bar Muza with the tree of light. Sometimes you need just one tree to feel the place inside.

Here are some photos I took and edit a bit, because the famous Belgium weather is not the best friend of my camera. Anyway, enjoy, make memories and stop waiting for a map, draw your maps and travel. Somewhere.
